Experimental 5th Gen K-Pop
Rekindling Forgotten Lore
ECLYPHAE (이클리프애) is a 5th-generation K-Pop group with an experimental sound. Their music starts with the modern pulse of dark, atmospheric trap, but their real passion is blending it with two other core elements: K-Pop folk fusion and classical music.
The group draws from the roots of traditional Korean storytelling and melodies. At the same time, with Seolhwi's background in cello and violin, they weave those haunting, classical structures directly into their songs. This mix of old and new, organic and digital, is their signature.
Their artistic mission is to "rekindle forgotten lore." They find powerful themes and stories from the past and re-interpret them through a new, futuristic lens. They aim to be a bridge between what was and what will be.
ECLYPHAE is in a constant state of experimentation. New fusion tracks, compositions, and lyrical concepts are made available daily on Spotify.
About the Album: TOTALITY
The 1st Full Album, 'TOTALITY', is the definitive statement of their identity. The title refers to a total eclipse—a celestial event where disparate bodies align to create a singular, breathtaking phenomenon. This is their music: the alignment of seemingly opposite forces to create one cohesive, shadowed beauty. 'TOTALITY' is the eclipse of dark trap by folk melody, the eclipse of classical strings by fiery rap.
Across 25 tracks, the album takes the listener on a narrative journey. It is a concept album built around re-imagined ancient lore and modern-day myths. Tracks explore themes of sacrifice, the search for identity in a hyper-modern world, the resilience of faith against cynicism, and the haunting nature of memory.
Composed primarily by Rahyo (라효) and penned by Jiwol (지월), the album is a testament to the group's in-house creative process. From the orchestral strings arranged by Seolhwi (설휘) to the spontaneous, razor-sharp ad-libs from Mintchae (민트채), every track is a complete and total representation of who they are.
Meet ECLYPHAE (멤버 소개)
Jiwol (지월)
Leader · Vocalist · Lyricist
The Story of Jiwol: The Anchor and the Scribe
As the group's core, leader, and eldest sister, Jiwol (지월) carries the weight of ECLYPHAE's narrative soul. She is the group's Lyricist, the scribe who translates their complex concept of "rekindling lore" into tangible, poetic verses. Her inspiration is drawn from late nights studying classical Korean poetry (Sijo) and obscure historical texts, searching for the universal emotions hidden within ancient stories. Her lyrics form the foundation upon which every ECLYPHAE song is built.
Her role as a Vocalist is the anchor that moors their experimental sound. Jiwol possesses a rare, deep vocal resonance—a rich alto that is both powerful and comforting. However, her true technical marvel is her control, allowing her to effortlessly scale to breathtaking high pitches or drop into a low, resonant register that adds a unique gravity to their music. She is the voice of their collective conscience.
Jiwol's leadership is defined by this duality: she is both a fierce protector and a quiet mentor. She holds the group to a high standard, yet fosters an environment of creative safety. This is most evident in her relationship with Rahyo. Seeing the spark of raw talent in their maknae, Jiwol has taken Rahyo under her wing, personally mentoring her not just in composition, but in the art of storytelling—teaching her how to imbue a melody with purpose, and how to build a lyrical structure that can bear the weight of their profound messages. She is, in every sense, preparing her successor.

Mintchae (민트채)
Rapper · Verse Writer · Ad-libs
The Story of Mintchae: The Fiery Messenger
Mintchae (민트채) is the group's raw, unfiltered energy. Hailing from the urban outskirts, she embodies the spirit of a "city reject"—someone who has seen the grit beneath the glamour and chooses to build her identity from it. Her quirky, edgy style isn't a performance; it's an armor forged in the underground rap scenes where she first honed her craft. She is the group's Rapper and primary Verse Writer, responsible for the fiery, intricate flows that slice through their atmospheric tracks.
Her persona is a study in contrasts. While her delivery is aggressive and her presence intense, her message is one of profound faith and relentless love. This deep spirituality is the bedrock of her artistry, a steadfast anchor in a world she sees as cynical. She doesn't just write rhymes; she crafts sermons. Her verses are a call to resilience, a message to those who, like her, have been broken down and chosen to rebuild themselves.
In the studio, Mintchae is the queen of Hype and Ad-libs. Where Jiwol builds the narrative, Mintchae injects the spontaneous, emotional bursts that make the songs feel alive. She is the exclamation point to Jiwol's prose, the chaotic spark that lights their darkest compositions, and the unwavering voice that refuses to let the world break her—or her listeners—down.

Seolhwi (설휘)
Sub-Vocal · Sub-Rapper · Cello · Violin
The Story of Seolhwi: The Haunting Muse
Seolhwi (설휘) is the classical heart in the dark body of ECLYPHAE. A classically-trained musician with a deep, scholarly interest in the macabre, she finds her inspiration in gothic literature and the beautifully melancholic aesthetic of filmmakers like Tim Burton. This dramatic, shadowed influence is not just a concept; it's her core identity. It translates directly into her beautiful, siren-like Sub-Vocals, which provide the haunting, ethereal layers that give their music its signature atmosphere.
Her greatest contribution, however, is her instrumentation. Seolhwi is a master of both the Cello and Violin, and she frequently incorporates their rich, organic, and often sorrowful tones directly into their songs. She is the one who arranges the string sections that swell beneath a dark trap beat or carry the melody of a folk-inspired ballad. This fusion of raw classical talent with modern production is central to the group's "experimental" label.
While Jiwol writes the core narrative, Seolhwi is the group's editor and polisher, specializing in perfecting their lyrical bridges. She has a unique talent for connecting the narrative verse (Jiwol) to the fiery rap (Mintchae), weaving a seamless emotional transition that makes their songs feel like a complete, cinematic story. She is the muse who finds beauty in the shadows.

Rahyo (라효)
Composer · Sub-Vocal · Maknae
The Story of Rahyo: The Futuristic Spark
Rahyo (라효) is the futuristic, energetic spark of ECLYPHAE. As the maknae (youngest member), she brings a relentless optimism and a modern sensibility that perfectly balances the group's darker, historical themes. Her role as the group's budding Composer is her most critical. With a natural talent for melody and a deep understanding of modern Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs), her innate musicality provides the fresh, electronic, and often futuristic foundation for many of their experimental sounds.
A self-proclaimed K-Drama aficionado, Rahyo has a keen understanding of emotional pacing and "the perfect soundtrack moment." She brings this narrative sensibility to her compositions, building soundscapes that are not just catchy but emotionally resonant. This unique skill allows her to translate the complex lyrical themes from Jiwol into pure, melodic feeling.
As a Sub-Vocalist, her voice is bright, clear, and incredibly flexible, adding a necessary lightness that cuts through their dense, dark-trap productions. While Jiwol mentors her in the art of lyrical storytelling, Rahyo, in turn, introduces her unnies to new production techniques and modern sonic textures, making their creative relationship truly symbiotic. She is the bright, expressive energy that propels ECLYPHAE into the future.

The Shadow Unit: ONYX (오닉스)
Beyond the main lineup, ONYX (오닉스) is the shadow unit of ECLYPHAE. Comprised of producers, composers, and performers **Do-Hwaran (도화란)** and **Cheol-Gaksu (철각수)**, they are the studio architects who help build the group's complex sound.
While they primarily work in the background—composing tracks, producing, and "traversing for lore" to find the stories ECLYPHAE tells—they are a rare and powerful addition to certain songs. Their appearances are fleeting, serving as the darkness that defines the eclipse.
Do-Hwaran (도화란)
Rapper · Vocalist · Producer
The Story of Do-Hwaran: The Peach Blossom Rebellion
Do-Hwaran (도화란) is the **"Wildcard"** and the rebellious artistic force within ECLYPHAE's production team. His name, "Peach Blossom Rebellion," perfectly captures his duality: an artistic, almost delicate visual sensibility (the "Peach Blossom") hiding a defiant, chaotic energy (the "Rebellion").
He is an aggressive, fast-paced Rapper whose verses often focus on non-conformity. He is also noted for his unique vocal color, which provides an unexpected and haunting texture to their sound. In the studio, he's the one pushing boundaries, blending modern streetwear aesthetics with traditional sounds, always looking to break the rules. He provides the unpredictable, creative spark that contrasts with his partner's discipline.
Cheol-Gaksu (철각수)
Dancer · Rapper · Composer
The Story of Cheol-Gaksu: The Iron-Awakened Guardian
Cheol-Gaksu (철각수) is the **"Anchor"** and the disciplined musical architect of ONYX. His name, "Iron-Awakened Guardian," speaks to his core identity: the "Iron" of an unstoppable will, the "Awakened" mind of a skilled artist, and the "Guardian" of the group's sound.
A former monk, his background in various martial arts techniques informs his entire creative process, a past hinted at in his 'Taekwon' pendant. As a Composer for the unit, he is the focused, stoic counterpart to Do-Hwaran, building the strong, rhythmic foundations for ECLYPHAE's tracks. His approach to music is one of precision and power. When he performs, his rap style is deliberate and his dance is defined by the sharp, powerful, and acrobatic lines of his martial arts training.
